Robert Yates Racing Gains Five New Team Members

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 1, 1999) -- Robert Yates Racing has acquired the services of five new team members for the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup season, team owner Robert Yates announced today.

Barry Muse, Mike Trower, Kevin Gilman, Jeff Knight and Darren Jolly will primarily serve as the pit crew for Dale Jarrett's No. 88 Quality Care Service/Ford Credit Taurus.

"This opportunity was presented to us earlier this year and after much thought between myself, Todd (Parrott, crew chief ) and Dale (Jarrett), we elected to take advantage of it," Yates said. "This sport has been driven to the point where every situation tends to get more specialized. We compared notes and felt this would be a positive move. When a job is performance driven, it's only smart to have specialized people in those positions.

"Not only will this allow our guys that have been in these positions each and every weekend to concentrate on doing what they are assigned better, but more efficiently. This was just the next step to take."

The five new members will continue their same responsibilities for the No.88 team, as they have carried out in the past with Hendrick Motorsports, pitting the No. 24 car, driven by Jeff Gordon. Muse - jackman, Trower - front tire changer, Gilman - rear tire changer, while Knight and Jolly are tire carriers.

Rob Cappetta, Robert McInnis and Jason Burdett will remain as the gas man, second gas man and catch can, respectively.
