Winston 500

Earnhardt is King of the Plates
Dale Earnhardt proved that he is the King of the restrictor-plate tracks, holding off Dale Jarrett by .113 seconds to claim his ninth win at the Talladega track. Earnhardt swept both races at Talladega for the second time in his career, the last time coming in 1990. Earnhardt won from the 27th starting position, the farthest back any winner has started at Talladega. The win is the 74th career win for Earnhardt.
