Pennsylvania 500
Bobby Labonte Pulls Pocono Sweep
Bobby Labonte became only the fourth driver to win both races at Pocono in the same season,
winning the Pennsylvania 500 by some eight seconds. Tim Richmond last swept the Pocono races in
1986. For Labonte, the win was the tenth in his career and the third of the 1999 season. Dale
Jarrett padded his point lead to 254 points over Mark Martin, who moved into second place.
Skinner on Pocono Pole
Mike Skinner, boosted by the good news of crew chief Larry McReynolds, raced to the third pole
position of his career. McReynolds agreed to a three year contract to continue with RCR and the
31 team earlier in the day. Skinner's lap of 52.801 seconds, at 170.451 mph around the Pocono
Raceway was good enough to hold off Mark Martin for the top spot. Martin will start second,
followed by Ken Schrader and Bobby Labonte on the second row.
