Dura Lube/Kmart 300
Nemechek Claims First Win
Joe Nemechek earned the name "Front Row Joe" because of where he often started. Now he finally takes claim to that name because of where he finished. Nemecheck won for the first time on the Winston Cup circuit, taking the checkered flag for the Dura Lube/Kmart 300 at New Hampshire International Raceway. Nemechek, a former Busch Grand National champion with seven BGN wins to his credit, claimed his first Winston Cup win in his 180th start. With Tony Stewart's first win last week, the Stewart/Nemechek combination becomes the first back-to-back, first-time winners since 1970.
Wallace on New Hampshire Pole
Rusty Wallace grabbed his third pole position of the season and will lead the field to the green flag for the Dura Lube/Kmart 300 at the Magic Mile. Wallace turned a lap of 29.339 seconds, at 129.820 mph and claimed his first ever pole at New Hampshire. Wallace will be joined on the front row by Dale Jarrett, followed by Ken Schrader and Kevin Lepage in row two.
