Jeff Wins the Battle of the Burtons at Rockingham
Jeff Burton held off his older brother Ward by .337 seconds to win the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at North Carolina Speedway. Ward finished second to his brother for the third time this year. Jeff Burton won for the sixth time this season, his first victory that did not come on a superspeedway. The win is the 11th in Burton's career and his first-ever win at The Rock.

Martin Completes Pole Sweep at the Rock
Mark Martin will start from the pole position for both of this weekend's races at the North Carolina Speedway. Martin completed a sweep of the top starting spots at the Rock by claiming his first Winston Cup pole of the season. Martin's lap of 23.263 seconds, at 157.383 mph, was a record for the fall event. Jeremy Mayfield will start on the outside pole, while point leader Dale Jarrett and Jeff Gordon will start third and fourth respectively.
