MBNA Gold 400
Martin Wins at the Monster Mile
Mark Martin claimed the victory in the MBNA Gold 400 at Dover Downs International Speedway. Martin beat second place Tony Stewart to the stripe by 1.144 seconds to win his second race of the season. The win is the third in row for Martin in the September race at Dover Downs and the 31st in his Winston Cup career. Martin's win is the 12th of the season for Ford.
Wallace on Dover Downs Pole
Rusty Wallace won his second pole position in a row, turning the fastest lap in MBNA Gold 400 qualifying at Dover Downs. Wallace's lap of 22.505 seconds, at 159.964 mph edged Jerry Nadeau for the top spot. Wallace will start from the pole for the fourth time this season, Nadeau will start from the outside pole, while Tony Stewart and Jeremy Mayfield complete row two.
