Bobby Labonte Wins Season Finale in Atlanta
Bobby Labonte took the final checkered flag of the season, winning the last race of the century by 2.427 seconds over 1999 Winston Cup champion Dale Jarrett. Labonte came from a record-setting 37th starting position to win for the fifth time this season and the 12th time in his career. Labonte continued to dominate the Atlanta Motor Speedway, winning three of the last four events at the track.
Lepage Grabs First Pole
Kevin Lepage laid claim to his first career Winston Cup pole position on Friday at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Lepage grabbed the top starting spot with a lap of 28.617 seconds, at an average speed of 193.731 mph. Steve Park will join Lepage on row number one, while Mark Martin and Geoffrey Bodine make out row two.
