Texaco/Havoline Ford Takes on New Look in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Most loyal NASCAR fans who follow Winston Cup are very familiar with the famous Texaco/Havoline® Ford, as traditionally decaled for over a decade with the large Texaco "Star T" logo. In the industry, it is one of the most recognizable cars on the track.

However, for the November 7 Checker Auto Parts/Dura Lube 500 at Phoenix International Raceway, the No. 28 car will shed its traditional look and take on a special paint scheme to promote Havoline Formula3® Motor Oil and Texaco Xpress Lube. The car will have a look reminiscent of the hot rod paint schemes from the '50s and '60s with a fiery blend of black, red and yellow.

While special paint schemes displayed at large venues are not uncommon for Winston Cup teams, Robert Yates and longtime sponsor Texaco/Havoline rarely break away from their traditional look.

"Our long association with Robert Yates Racing allows us to showcase the excellent performance of Havoline Formula3 Motor Oil - the same product available right off the shelf and used at Texaco Xpress Lube locations," said Louise Nemanich, president of the lubricants division of Equilon Enterprises LLC, the U.S. joint venture between Shell Oil Company and Texaco Inc.

"We are thrilled to be participating in this promotion," said Robert Yates. "Although we do not often stray from the well-known look of the No. 28 Texaco/Havoline car, the new paint scheme is an exciting design and I am sure it will catch the eye of NASCAR fans."
