Kenseth's California Win Means Big For Lucky Race Fan
Kenseth’s first career Daytona 500 victory automatically created the contest’s first winner. His win in Fontana enables a second fan to win a trip to Ford Championship Weekend in Homestead, Florida.
Kenseth led 84 laps during Sunday night’s Auto Club 500, en route to his 18th career victory and Ford’s 10th win at the southern California track. It was also car owner Jack Roush’s seventh win at Fontana and Ford’s 594th win in NASCAR’s top series.
”I felt good about coming here. In a way, I don’t think a win will ever be as big in my career as winning the Daytona 500, but in a way this almost feels better,” said Kenseth. “You come here and it’s not restrictor-plate racing. You don’t need other people’s help. Luck’s not involved quite as much.
“We had to come here and figure out how to beat the 43 teams on speed and strategy and adjustments and all that stuff. Obviously, these are the kinds of races that make up the bulk of the schedule, and whether you run good or bad at these tracks has more of a determining factor on making the Chase or running for a championship. It feels pretty unbelievable to win the first two races – especially Daytona – and then to be able to come out of the box and run competitively here. It’s great.”
Race fans can continue to register for the sweepstakes logging on to www.weraceyouwin.com anytime until Nov. 15, 2009. Obviously, the sooner the fans register, the more opportunities they have to win.
All of the Homestead winners will receive a trip for two to Ford Championship Weekend, including air, hotel, rental car, tickets to all three races, and a VIP visit with Ford drivers at the race track.
Fans who register will also have a chance to be eligible for one of 10 random monthly drawings of Ford Racing themed prizes, like autographed helmets, apparel packs and more.
