WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE CROWN ROYAL 400 NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES RACE AT RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, MAY 3, 2008.
Denny Hamlin led twice for 381 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in tonight’s Crown Royal 400. Hamlin captured the award for the first time this season. He has led 630 laps in five races this season.
Hamlin set the record for the number of laps led in a 400-lap race at Richmond, breaking the old record by Bobby Allison (September 1979).
Hamlin has led at least one lap in all three short track races this season.
Hamlin scored a 24th-place finish in the race.
UNOFFICIALLY Hamlin is sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings, one point behind fifth-place Kevin Harvick and 31 ahead of seventh-place Jimmie Johnson.
Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch are tied for the lead (3-3) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
