“I really look forward to going to Richmond. The racing is always close and exciting, and the fact that Chevy has won the last four in a row there doesn't hurt either. It’s an impound race, which will make for some interesting practice and qualifying strategies. Teams outside the top 35 may be forced to give up some early run raceability in order to ensure a starting spot on Saturday night. There's extra incentive in qualifying well even for teams guaranteed a starting spot since no Cup race since the fall '02 has been won from outside the top 10 starting spots.

JEFF BURTON, NO. 31 AT&T IMPALA SS, CURRENT NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES POINTS LEADER, HOMETOWN SOUTH BOSTON, VA: “It takes a lot of different stuff to run well on a short track. I think things get magnified on a short track. Being off a little bit makes you off a lot more on those tracks. I don’t think it’s unlike Martinsville, Phoenix or New Hampshire. There seems to be some teams that do a better job of being ready and some drivers that do a better job of being ready for that type of racing because it is different than what we’re doing at intermediate tracks. You do drive the cars different and you set them up differently. So there are a lot of factors that go into it. Having cars that drive well and having a driver that does well on those race tracks are very important. You can’t deny that some drivers do a better job at that type of race track than others. Kevin (Harvick) is a good example. He always runs well at those race tracks and you can’t deny that it has something to do with his driving.”

“I just think for the teams, for the fans and for everybody that it takes to make this sport work, it’s the best all-around track. Richmond has good racing action. It’s big enough where it’s not wreck after wreck, but small enough where it’s close side-by-side action since you have multiple grooves. To me, it’s a really hard race track to beat competition-wise.”

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S IMPALA SS, WINNER OF THE LAST TWO EVENTS AT RIR: "I'm excited to go to Richmond. We've won the last two there and that's been one of my toughest tracks. So I'm really excited to go back. Our short track program is working really well for us and hopefully we can visit victory lane again."

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 SHELL-PENNZOIL IMPALA SS KNOWS HIS WAY AROUND RIR WITH ONE SPRINT CUP WIN AND 4 NATIONWIDE WINS: “We have been able to run really good at Richmond since I have been at RCR. We have been able to win three Nationwide Series races in a row and finish first and second in the Cup car in 2006. Richmond is one of those places where I really enjoy racing. You can move the car all over the race track. It seems like the groove moves around as the race goes on. I am just really comfortable racing at Richmond and I hope for another great finish this weekend.”

JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW RACING IMPALA SS, FRESH FROM WINNING THE POLE LAST WEEK AT TALLADEGA, MARKS THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS WIN AT RICHMOND ON MAY 3, 2003: "Richmond has always been a special place for me, even before I won there ’03. It's a fun track to race at because you can pass and make things happen on your own. I can't believe it's been five years since my win there. It seems like yesterday I was celebrating in Victory Lane. We're making progress with the COT, but there's a lot to learn about the car. The key about Richmond is that the car needs to get through the corner. It sounds simple, but there's a lot of work and research that goes into finding the right combination."
