EXPRESS NOTES:
Top-Five Streak Reaches Four Races - Hamlin Third at Talladega: After an anonymous start to the 2008 season, Denny Hamlin and the #11 FedEx Racing team have quietly put together a string of races that has moved them into the top-five in points. Since posting a sixth-place finish at Bristol, Hamlin has ripped off four consecutive top-five finishes, including a win at Martinsville and back-to-back third place finishes at Phoenix and Talladega. The 188-lap race at Talladega appeared to be Hamlin's for the taking but a late position shuffle and the last lap caution allowed him to reach only as high as third.

FedEx Express Fact: Over the past five races, Hamlin's average finishing position stands at 3.6 - the best in the Sprint Cup series.

Hamlin Announces Foundation at Richmond: Denny Hamlin will launch his new charitable foundation with the running of the Denny Hamlin 175 at Southside Speedway, the track where he cut his teeth in Late Model racing, in Midlothian, Va. on Thursday, May 1. The Denny Hamlin Foundation will focus primarily on raising awareness and funding for the specific needs of individuals afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis and will donate all proceeds from the charity event to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Moving forward, in addition to CFF, the foundation also will support chronically ill children with other debilitating illnesses. (Visit www.dennyhamlin.com for more information about the race and the foundation).

Hamlin at Richmond: This weekend will mark Hamlin's fifth start at his hometown track and 89th career Cup start. Hamlin grew up a little more than twenty miles from Richmond International in Chesterfield, Va. and has made no secret of his desire to win a race in front of friends and family. In this race last spring, Hamlin led twelve laps on his way to a third-place finish. He has only finished outside of the top-ten at RIR on one occasion (Fall 2006) when he lost a cylinder and was forced to run out the race significantly down on power. In his Richmond debut, Hamlin went wheel to wheel with Dale Earnhardt Jr. before finishing second.

Richmond Chassis 166 & 162: The #11 team is lowering chassis JGR 166 off the truck at Richmond this weekend hoping it will perform as well on the .75-mile RIR track as it did when Denny Hamlin drove it to a win at Martinsville only four races ago. In 2007, this car scored top-five finishes at Darlington (2nd - 5/07) and Dover (4th - 6/07) and qualified third at Dover in the fall before a wreck forced Hamlin to the garage and out of the race. JGR 162 will serve as the back up this weekend. 162 started three races in 2007, winning at New Hampshire in June and capturing the pole at the Martinsville Spring race.

HAMLIN CONVERSATION - RICHMOND:
It's no secret that Richmond is special to you - does that change the more you race here?: "I think if anything, you want to win more and more the more times you come here. The fans here are the best and they have been really supportive from day one and when we all celebrated some of the milestones - like making the Chase and winning a pole - here together. Winning the pole here was a real highlight for me, I would put it up with any win. There is just something about running well at your home track -it just means more."

You've been on quite a streak over the last month plus, how do you see this season stacking up?: "We have had some really good cars and I have to thank everyone on the #11 team, at JGR, and at TRD. It's fun to go to the track and hop in a really competitive car and see that you are racing with Tony and Kyle because they are sitting in great equipment too. With Richmond and Darlington coming up we have some good opportunities to keep this momentum and carry it on to Pocono and Indy and hopefully all the way through to the fall."

Talk about your foundation. This is something you have been working on for a while - how important was it to launch here in Richmond?: "It a new foundation and we will look to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I have a cousin who has suffered through this disease and it was an easy choice for me to do whatever I could to help them as they work to help everyone affected by Cystic Fibrosis. To hold the race at Southside and race with some old friends and share the event with everyone in Chesterfield and the Richmond area means a lot."
