UAW-Dodge 400 - Kyle Petty Notes

Kyle Petty
#45 Wells Fargo Dodge
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
UAW-Dodge 400
Las Vegas Motor Speedway
March 2, 2008

Quotes from Kyle Petty:
“The new Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a great racetrack. Some people might call it a ‘cookie cutter’ track because it is a 1.5-mile venue. But let me say this, Las Vegas is a unique racetrack. It was unique when it was flat and it’s unique now that it has progressive banking. Our No. 45 Wells Fargo Dodge team has been good on intermediate tracks over the last few years. We need a solid run this weekend and I’m confident we’ll get one.”

“Each week someone has said that the upcoming race is the most important race of the season for the new car. First it was a restrictor-plate race. Then it was a two-mile, intermediate track. Both were important, but those two specific types of venues have a combined eight races among them. 1.5-mile ovals, like Las Vegas, events. Five of those are part of ‘The Chase for the Sprint Cup.’ I think you will see a lot of eyes on this race too.

“This weekend’s event is the UAW-Dodge 400. Dodge is a great supporter of Petty Enterprises and the Victory Junction Gang Camp. Over the years we have been truly blessed by the amount of support we receive from the NASCAR family. But Dodge did something really cool. They are bringing back the Dodge Challenger into production. They took the 43rd Challenger to come off of the assembly line, painted it Petty blue and auctioned it off on EBay. It brought in $228,143.43 last week. They are donating that money to our camp. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity.”
