UAW-Dodge 400 - Travis Kvapil Notes

TRAVIS KVAPIL, YATES RACING
No. 28 Yates Racing Ford Fusion
LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
March 2, 2008

Quoting Yates Racing Driver, Travis Kvapil:
How was your testing session at Las Vegas earlier this season?
“Our test at Vegas at the end of January went really well. We had a ton of speed in our car and it seemed that we were towards the top of the speed charts most of the test sessions during those two days. We left that test and felt as though we had a pretty good handle on things for when we came back to race this weekend.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s race, how do you like racing at Las Vegas?
“I’m really excited to get to Vegas this weekend. I really like the new configuration of the race track they came up with when they added the banking. I won the truck race at Vegas last Fall, so I really do like racing here. Everyone seems to look forward to coming to Vegas when it’s on the schedule for the year. There are so many things to do both on and off the track that it’s a stop I enjoy making. I’m a fan of speedways that have some of the higher banking in the turns, and Vegas fits into that mold. The track has character, it’s rough, and now that they added the banking to it, they made it a high-speed mile-and-a-half track and I just really enjoy racing there.”

Quoting Yates Racing Crew Chief, Todd Parrott:
“Testing at Las Vegas went really great for us. We were able to get the car turning how we wanted to, and although we didn’t make any qualifying runs with our car, we were running almost as fast as guys who had fresh tires. I feel that our car for this weekend’s race is an even stronger car than what we had at Fontana this past weekend. I’m really excited about this weekend because Travis was running so well this past weekend at Fontana until we had an issue with the splitter. Our team is really looking forward to this weekend because we feel that once again, we have a car that can contend.”
