Saturday was a very busy day for Travis Kvapil. Moments after driving his No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford F-150 to a seventh place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series San Bernardino 200, he was behind the wheel of his No. 28 teamyatesracing.com Ford Fusion for what will be the lone practice session this weekend for the Spring Cup series.

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 teamyatesracing.com Ford Fusion – WITH RAIN CANCELLING ALL CUP PRACTICE AND THE QUALIFYING SESSION YESTERDAY, DOES COMPETING IN THE TRUCK RACE THIS AFTERNOON HELP OFFSET THE LOST TRACK TIME HERE? “I think anytime you get track time it’s a plus. We made some adjustments on that Zaxby’s Ford today that I think we can bank for information and know how it’s going to affect me tomorrow or even today here in practice. So, anytime you get track time it’s definitely a plus. There’s rain the area right now, so we need to try to get as much as we can today. Right now we’re looking at our test notes pretty hard and going off of those. I guess running today is definitely a good thing with the circumstances we’re under with the weather.”

THE TRUCK AND THE CURRENT CUP CAR BOTH HAVE A SPLITTER ON THE FRONT. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT IS TRANSFERABLE THAT YOU CAN USE? “Not really. The set-ups in the new car and the truck are completely different. There are some handling characteristics that the new car seems to handle somewhat like the truck does. It slides around a little bit, kind of up on top of the track. But, as far as information, we really didn’t learn much.”

HOW WAS YOUR TEST HERE AT CALIFORNIA EARLIER THIS YEAR? “Pretty well. Struggled a little bit the first day. We re-grouped and went through our notes and looked at our teammate’s stuff, and the second day was pretty positive.”
