    Quotable Quotes and Notable Notes:
Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Impala SS:
“Bristol is not my best track, so I’m going in with mixed emotions. I was hopeful that the new surface would click and work, but it just hasn’t. I’m always asked the question why Lowe’s Motor Speedway or why Vegas or why do we win at a certain track. There’s just something that clicks on certain tracks. And Bristol is one of those tracks where it does not click. I’ve been able to pull out a couple of decent runs, but in general it’s just been a tough place for us. I’m hopeful it changes this week ‘cause we could use a good run.”

Jeff Gordon, No. 24 DuPont Impala SS:
"From a driver’s perspective, I thought they did a great job with the changes. The configuration and the transitions in and off the corners are phenomenal. They basically gave us more room to race, and I think you could see that in the race last August. I had never seen so much racing all over the track. I didn’t think you could make Bristol any cooler or any more fun, but they did."

Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 AMP Energy / National Guard Impala SS:
"I always got to go to Bristol growing up, and it was one of the more fun tracks. I got to see a lot of crashes and was able to walk through the garage and see the cars all mangled. I didn't think I'd be very good at that track. When we started out, I just tried to be patient. It helped me to start out that way. I was able to run the first couple of races and finish well there. I just kind of kept that same motto -- stay real cool, calm, not to go over the top. It's a fun track. It's tough to qualify there. I don't put a lot of pressure on myself to make it happen."

Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Impala SS:
“Bristol is one of my favorite race tracks. I enjoy the short track stuff and we’ve always been fortunate to run really well there. We go there with high expectations but you never know what’s going to happen. You can get caught up in a wreck in a hurry and have your day ended. You have to go to Bristol and enjoy it but know that the outcome could be the opposite of what you want it to be.”

Jeff Burton, No. 31 AT&T Impala SS:
“I thought the new surface was really good. If you want to go to a race to watch the wrecks, you probably won’t like the new surface as much. If you want to watch a better race with more action and true side-by-side racing, with guys passing each other instead of wrecking others, then you’ll like the new surface. I think the new track is going to provide better racing and add more excitement. I’m a huge fan of the new surface and it’s a step in the right direction, for sure.”

    NOTES:
The Food City 500 takes the green flag on Sunday afternoon, March 16th at 2 p.m. EDT and will be aired live on FOX

IMPALA SS ON THE TRACK: All things are NOT identical on the 2008 NSCS race cars. The Chevrolet Impala SS has eight (8) unique templates utilized by NASCAR throughout the technical inspection process. These templates are exclusive to the Chevy Impala SS, designed to retain the integrity of the production model, giving race fans the ability to clearly associate the Impala SS race car with the production Impala SS.

IMPALA ON THE STREET: The legendary Chevrolet nameplate is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008. Chevrolet is commemorating the special event by offering the Impala 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Model - 2008 Impala 1LT. Taking its styling cues from the 1958 version, the 2008 Impala 1LT features two-tone leather appointed trim on both the front and rear seats.
