RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger)
HOW DID THE FINAL PRACTICE GO? ”We feel real confident about the car. I haven’t seen our lap times to see how they plot out. Overall it feels like a pretty good piece. We’ll just take it for what it’s worth and try to take the 12th place starting spot and make the best of it.”
IS IT A THREE GROOVE RACE TRACK RIGHT NOW? “It’s like a four groove track, but you don’t want to put yourself four wide. The track is always a great Atlanta track – real fast with plenty of room to run in multiple grooves. If you take care of your tires and get the care to handle in the corners, you can have a pretty good day. It’s going to be a fast race and we hope to be there in the end to have a chance to win.”
HOW IS YOUR CAR ON THE LONG RUNS? “It feels real good. It’s the best long-run car that I’ve ever felt here. We put a bunch of laps on it today to see how it would feel and it responded like we wanted it to.”
