    Quotable Quotes and Notable Notes:

Alba Colon, GM Racing Program Manager for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series: "We were very pleased with the performance of our Impala SS race car at Las Vegas. Our Chevy teams did their homework and were definitely up to the first contest on a 1.5-mile track.

"Although Atlanta is also a 1.5-mile track, it presents a unique set of challenges as the fastest track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit. Maximizing the horsepower in our Chevy R07 engines is critical. But equally as crucial is the aero package of the Impala SS and the setup for the handling package to give our drivers all the tools they need to contend for the win on Sunday.

"Race strategy is critical at Atlanta. Although I think we can expect two and three wide exciting racing, tire wear is critical because the surface of the track is weathered. Crew chiefs have to get their drivers in the frame of mind to manage their tires while maintaining the best track position possible. We had six caution flags in the 2007 spring race so managing fuel and tires for long green flag runs and green flag pit stops plays a big role in the outcome of the race as well.

"The GM Racing engineering team is continuing to work tirelessly with our teams to fine-tune the Impala SS/R07 combination in anticipation of a very competitive season. The evolution of our new NASCAR race car presents exciting challenges for everyone involved in the program from both the GM Racing side and the Chevy team side."

    NOTES:

  • Of the 22 tracks on the NSCS roster, seven of them are 1.5-mile tracks that will host a total 10 races of the 36 events this season making performance and success on these tracks tantamount to Team Chevy.

IMPALA SS ON THE TRACK: All things are NOT identical on the 2008 NSCS race car. The Chevrolet Impala SS has eight (8) unique templates utilized by NASCAR throughout the technical inspection process. These templates are exclusive to the Chevy Impala SS, designed to retain the integrity of the production model, giving race fans the ability to clearly associate the Impala SS race car with the production Impala SS.

IMPALA ON THE STREET: The legendary Chevrolet nameplate is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008. Chevrolet is commemorating the special event by offering the Impala 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Model - 2008 Impala 1LT. Taking its styling cues from the 1958 version, the 2008 Impala 1LT features two-tone leather appointed trim on both the front and rear seats.
