Centurion Boats at the Glen - Rookie Post-Race Quotes

Where the Raybestos Rookies finished at Watkins Glen International:
Menard 19th
Ragan 32nd
Montoya 39th

PAUL MENARD IN THE No. 15 MENARDS/QUAKER STATE CHEVROLET WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE AT WATKINS GLEN INTERNATIONAL.

Note:

  • Menard finished 19th and took Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the fourth time this season.

PAUL MENARD, No. 15 MENARDS/QUAKER STATE CHEVROLET: “It was good. It could have been a lot better. I kind of screwed up and spun out going up through the esses, and that cost us a top ten finish. But it was a really good points day anyway.”

DAVID RAGAN, No. 6 DISCOUNT TIRE FORD: “I felt like my job today was to keep my car on the racetrack. And certainly my pit crew did an awesome job. Jimmy did an awesome job getting everything ready. I feel like I just let them down. We knew we couldn’t come here and contend for the win. I don’t have the experience the other guys have on the road courses. But the least I can do is try to drive a perfect race, and I didn’t. So I feel like I let the guys down a little bit. Certainly, we did run all the laps and finish on the lead lap. But we put ourselves in position to finish in the top 25 or the top 20, and that would’ve been a decent run today. I feel like the road courses are the number one thing on my plate right now to work on.”

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, No. 42 WRIGLEY’S BIG RED DODGE: AFTER A LATE-RACE INCIDENT WITH KEVIN HARVICK: “We had a pretty good car. We had been very conservative to start with. We had a long first gear so re-starts were pretty bad. On the last restart I went to the inside to defend the 1 car. I guess he didn’t like it that I defend him. And he just spun me. He spun me. When he spun me, I went backwards into the 29. He got out of the car, you know. I came out. They hit me from behind. And he came all disrespectful and saying all kinds of things and grabbed me. And I don’t appreciate that. I race very clean. I give people space. If he’s not going to respect me, I’m not going to respect him either. It’s pretty disappointing to see a guy like that do such a thing.”
