Samsung 500 - Team Red Bull Notes

ENTRIES: Red Bull No. 83 Brian Vickers and Red Bull No. 84 AJ Allmendinger
RACE: NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, Samsung 500
TRACK: Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth, TX
DATES: April 13-15, 2007

+ REMEMBERING JIMMY
Team Red Bull celebrates the life of one of its most colorful characters this weekend in Texas. In honor of James “Jimmy” Sprinkle — a test team mechanic who died after an unfortunate altercation at his property on March 31 — the Nos. 83 and 84 will carry the words “In loving memory of Jimmy Sprinkle: ‘Breakin’ it down’” on the B-post. It has been a tough two weeks around the shop, as one Team Red Bull member admitted, “I don’t know if they can replace him.”

+ SMACKDOWN AT TEAM RED BULL
The rare off-week gave Team Red Bull a chance to slow down before its stop at the Fort Worth Stock(car)yards and Texas Motor Speedway — the start of 14 consecutive weeks of Nextel Cup racing. But the raceshop still was a hotbed of activity last Friday with a visit from Maria, a WWE Pro Wrestling Diva who happens to have a thing for cool cars. Maria, who contributes to WWE Magazine as a car columnist, spent the day posing around the shop. She, and her poses, will come to life overall several issues, beginning in July. Nothing brings WWE Pro Wrestling and NASCAR together quite like a Car Diva. Thanks Maria for lifting our spirits.

+ FASTEST OF THE FURIOUS
No Nextel Cup driver has gone faster around Texas Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval than Brian Vickers. At last fall’s race in the No. 25 GMAC Chevrolet, Brian turned a Cup track-record lap (by over 2 mph) at 196.235 mph for his fourth career pole. It was the fastest pole in 2006. Team Red Bull

+ QUOTES
Brian Vickers, driver No. 83 - “Texas is a really fun, fast track. I’m excited to get out of the Car of Tomorrow and back into the current car because we’ve had more success in that than in the Car of Tomorrow. Texas has been good to me. I had a great car there last year and we sat on the pole, so I’d like to get back and see more success.”

Doug Richert, crew chief No. 83 - “I’m actually looking forward to getting to Texas Motor Speedway because we had a pretty good performance at Atlanta on a 1.5-mile track. We’re hoping that helps us fare better going into Texas. This is also our first race getting back into the Car of Today, and we’ve been a lot more competitive in that than in the Car of Tomorrow. We’ll take what we learned at Atlanta and put it toward a good run at Texas.”

AJ Allmendinger, driver No. 84 – “It feels good coming off the off weekend having made the last two races. This team is really coming together, and I am gaining a lot more confidence in these cars. It will be good to go back to a track I think we can do well at as a team. Hopefully this will be the weekend we make our first race on a mile-and-a-half track.”

Ricky Viers, crew chief No. 84 – “This weekend should be a strong one for our team. We had a good car in Vegas this year and barely missed the race. We are bringing that same car to Texas and have made some adjustments that should give us more speed.”
