Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:
Energizer Keeps Going and Going: Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Inc. (CGR), and Energizer Holdings, Inc. announced this week a multi-year extension to their long-lasting relationship that dates back over a decade. Energizer will continue to showcase its brand as a major associate sponsor on the No. 41 Target Dodge driven by Reed Sorenson in the NEXTEL Cup Series and both Target Chip Ganassi Racing entries in the IndyCar Series driven by current championship contender (second place) and past champion Scott Dixon and 2005 Indianapolis 500 winner and series champion Dan Wheldon beginning with the start of the 2008 racing season.
IndyCar Series Championship Weekend: Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon heads into this weekend’s IndyCar Series finale locked into a heated battled for the championship. Dixon (584) is only three points behind leader Dario Franchitti (587) heading into the season ending race at Chicagoland Speedway on Sept. 9. Dixon finished second in last year’s Chicagoland race.
Virginia Native: Target team front-tire changer Bobby Burrell hails from Hot Springs, Va. In addition to his race day duties, Burrell serves as a chassis engineer at the shop. This is his fourth season with CGRFS and prior to joining the team he worked with Robert Yates Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and DEI.
Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target team have selected chassis #745 for RIR. This is a new CoT that will see competition for the first time this weekend.
Points Update: Sorenson is currently tied for 24th position in the overall NEXTEL Cup Series driver standings with Mark Martin with a total of 2220 points. Sorenson is only 152 points out of 20th heading into Richmond.
Be Sure to Tune In: The Rock & Roll 400 at RIR is set to go green at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The race will air live on ABC, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
