  • Ward Burton will be attempting to qualify for his 366th NASCAR Nextel Cup start when the green flag drops at Pocono Raceway on June 10, 2007
  • He will be attempting to start in his 23rd NASCAR Nextel Cup event at Pocono Raceway.
  • His career-best start at the 2.5-mile speedway is a pole (July 1998) and his best finish is 8th (June 2003)
  • In his last outing at Pocono in the fall of 2004, Burton started 27th and finished 31st after transmission problems at 162/200 laps
  • Burton’s average start is 19th and average finish is 25th
  • Burton will have to qualify on time for the Pocono 500, as Morgan-McClure Motorsports is 43rd in championship owner’s points in the 2007 season.

  • Morgan-McClure Motorsports marks its 25th year of participation in NASCAR’s elite Nextel Cup Division in 2007. There are only three active teams who have been in the sport longer than Morgan-McClure.

    Ward on returning to Pocono …
    “Pocono is a very unusual track – every corner is different. We are taking the car we tested at Charlotte and hope for good results. Everyone has been working really hard to get these cars better and hopefully it will show this Friday at Pocono during qualifying. The last time I ran at Pocono we still shifted gears between the corners and now we don’t. It will be interesting to run all the way around that track without having to shift.”
