WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE SUBWAY FRESH FIT 500 NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES RACE AT PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, APRIL 21, 2007.

Tony Stewart led three times for 132 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Stewart has now led at least one lap in six of the eight races this season. This is the third race where Stewart has led over 100 laps. Stewart has led 584 total laps this season, the most of any driver in the NEXTEL Cup Series this season.

Stewart claimed WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors for the third time this season. He leads Jeff Gordon (3-2) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.

Stewart finished second in tonight’s race, .697 seconds behind race winner Gordon. Stewart scored his second top-five and fifth top-10 finish of the season.

UNOFFICIALLY Stewart is seventh in the NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings, eight points behind sixth-place Kyle Busch. He holds a 27-point edge over eighth-place Carl Edwards
