DAVE BLANEY, No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing:
Starting position: 11th
How do you feel about your qualifying run?
"We were happy, we were pretty happy with the car all day - we really didn't change much. Biggest thing is we didn't want to
overdrive it getting in the corner, that's what we were having trouble with in practice. I took it a little easier than I needed to be
getting into the corner, but it was still good. I was really going to be happy with anything in the 50s, and we ended up pulling a
43. We'll take that - it's a good day."
This is the same car you tested at Richmond, how do you think it will perform in Saturday night's race?
"I hope we can be competitive the whole race. This car has run good for us at testing and every time we have had it out so
hopefully that will continue.
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 00 Domino's Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing:
Starting position: 25th
How was your qualifying lap?
"It was pretty good. Our car was pretty free. We got a good draw and that helped a lot. This place gets a little quicker as it
cools down. All in all, I'm pretty happy. I'm happy that we are in - that's what I'm happiest about."
What's your strategy for the rest of the weekend?
"We'll get out here and start doing race runs tomorrow during practice and concentrate on making the car as good as we can. A
lot of those guys got a head start on us, a couple hours of practice ahead because a lot of those guys were making race runs and
did some qualifying stuff towards the end of the day. That's just the way it is going to be for a while until we start getting some
top-10s to help us out. We will just try to make smart changes in the amount of time we have. The important thing is we are in
the race."
Did your qualifying draw help?
"It helped. We made the car faster and the draw helped. It definitely helped. I've been on the other side. I've rolled out here
second in the trucks and qualified about dead last, over a second slower than in practice, but today it went our way and I'm glad
for that. We needed something like this."
DALE JARRETT, No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing:
Starting position: 43rd (using championship provisional)
How do you think your qualifying run went?
"Not nearly fast enough, we got to get more grip in these qualifying runs. The car has to have more grip to go faster. We have
some more work to do."
What's your impression about the Car of Tomorrow?
"It is just a race car. You just have to figure out what it's looking for and what it needs. We have to do a better job at that and
we are trying to figure it out. We're learning and we are working hard we just haven't exactly gotten to that point yet."
Will your past success and race win at Phoenix play a role in Saturday night's race?
"We just have to get to running better in the races. We don't talk about wins or anything, right now it is a matter of we have to
get ourselves where we can run in the top-20 and be consistent at that. That's our moderate goals right now."
