Location: Loudon, N.H.
Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:
Leading Laps at Loudon: Sorenson led a total of 31 laps at Loudon during the June race of his rookie season in 2006. After qualifying ninth, Sorenson ran in the top five for more than half of the 300 laps and was headed for at least a third-place finish. An untimely last-lap caution, however, forced the Target team to pit for fuel prior to a green-white-checkered finish, relegating Sorenson to 24th. Sorenson qualified third earlier this season in the first CoT race at the 1.058-mile track.
Talladega Testing: Sorenson, his CGRFS teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and David Stremme, and pretty much every other team and driver participated in a NASCAR sanctioned, two-day CoT test session at the circuits’ biggest speedway (2.66 miles) on Monday and Tuesday. The Talladega Superspeedway race on Oct. 7 will mark the first CoT race on a restrictor-plate track. All of the CGFRS cars ran top 10 speeds during the Monday afternoon drafting session (Stremme third, Montoya fifth, Sorenson eighth). Sorenson was involved in an accident on Monday afternoon, but continued testing on Tuesday for Montoya who had to leave for other engagements.
Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target team have selected chassis #732 for NHIS. This CoT chassis has previously competed in the first Dover race (27th) and the first Loudon event (26th).
Points Update: Sorenson currently sits in 25th position in the overall NEXTEL Cup Series driver standings with a total of 2287 points. He is only 55 points out of 23rd and 192 points out of 20th heading into NHIS.
Be Sure to Tune In: The Sylvania 300 is set to go green at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The race will air live on ABC, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
