Lenox Industrial Tools 300 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 CARQUEST/KELLOGG'S IMPALA SS)
VENUE: NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY (1.058-MILE OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES (RACE 17 OF 36)
EVENT: SUNDAY, JULY 1, 2007 (300 LAPS, 317.4 MILES)

FLASHBACK, ONE YEAR AGO: In this event one year ago, Kyle Busch led 107 laps around New Hampshire International Speedway en route to his third career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series victory. Busch started the event fourth and had a near-perfect driver rating of 141.1 out of a possible score of 150.

CLOSE TO HOME: Two No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST team members, Rick Pigeon and D.J. Richardson, are racing close to their hometowns this weekend. Pigeon, the No. 5 jackman, hails from Fairfax, Vt., while Richardson, the front-tire changer, is from Leomister, Mass.

BEST ROAD COURSE FINISH: Busch's eighth-place finish at Infineon Raceway marked his best result on a road course to date in a NEXTEL Cup car. He previously finished 11th at Infineon and also has a ninth-place effort at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, the other road course the NEXTEL Cup Series competes on.

CAR SELECTION FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE: Crew chief Alan Gustafson has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 423 as the primary Impala SS for this weekend's NEXTEL Cup event at New Hampshire International Speedway. The car was tested at the Milwaukee Mile earlier this month in preparation for this weekend's event at Loudon, N.H.

BUSCH TO RACE PASS NORTH EVENT: Busch will compete in another late model race this weekend in New Hampshire. The 22-year-old will take part in the All-Star 200 PASS North event at All-Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., on Saturday. Busch will drive the No. 51 car fielded by Steve Perry for the event. KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 CARQUEST/KELLOGG'S IMPALA SS: (ON PASSING IN THE CAR OF TOMORROW AT NEW HAMPSHIRE.) "I think the race will definitely be a little different (with the Car of Tomorrow). It will be a lot tougher to pass. As tight as the cars are, we will be moving up the race track, so we will have to have everything working on the bottom of the track."

BUSCH: (ON THE TYPE OF RACING TO EXPECT AT NEW HAMPSHIRE.) "It will be a way different race this weekend. I know we won last year, but it will definitely be like the race was at Phoenix. I don't think there will be much passing going on. We are going to a one-groove race track, so we'll have to see."

BUSCH: (ON GOING BACK AS THE DEFENDING RACE WINNER.) "We had a great run there last season and led and won the race. I tend to run really well there in a Monte Carlo, but we will have to see what it's like in the new Impala SS. We didn't fare so well in the second New Hampshire race last season, so I hope it changes this year and we can run up front and maybe get another win."
