David Stremme and the No. 40 TUMS Dodge Team Facts:
Back to Man in Blue: David Stremme will take to the track this weekend at Michigan International Speedway in an all TUMS fashion. The No. 40 TUMS Dodge will feature the striking blue TUMS signature logo across the hood and both rear quarter panels. The rear of the Charger will feature TUMS trusted tablets. The last run for the No. 40, outfitted in the TUMS logo, was in July at the Chicagoland Speedway.
Meet Patrick Dempsey: Stremme will be running the No.22 Busch Series car this weekend for Fitz-Bradshaw Racing. The car will sport a special paint scheme to promote a contest which will give five lucky winners the opportunity to spend a full day at a driving school in California with Hyper Sport drivers including celebrity Patrick Dempsey. It is an all expense paid trip which will include a choice of a full day of golf or winery tours. The hood of the car will have the website fans can go to and enter to win, www.supercuts.com.
Home is where the Heart is: Stremme will be honored by his hometown of South Bend, Ind. Tuesday, August 21st. The South Bend Common Council passed a resolution publicly commending him on his successful 13 year career in racing. There will also be a “Stremme Comes Home” celebration that night at the Century Center in downtown South Bend. The event will raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Mom, Cindy Stremme says, “He’s always called South Bend home.”
Repeat?: MIS is known for its competitive races, however, in June of 2006, Stremme had other things in mind in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race. Stremme, piloting the #61 Dodge, managed to lap the entire field and led a race-record 99 of 100 laps en route to his first career victory at MIS.
Standings Update: Stremme and the No. 40 car finished 21st at Watkins Glen. The No.40 team is currently 26th in the NNCS point standings.
Chassis: Crew Chief Steve Lane has selected chassis #621 for this weekend’s 3M Performance 400. Chassis #621 also took to the track last month at the Brickyard.
When to Watch: The green flag is set to wave Sunday, August 19th at 1 p.m. E.T. at Michigan International Speedway. The 3M Performance 400 will air live on ESPN, MRN Radio, and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
