Race 2 Win: UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 Notes

Dale Jarrett started 43rd and finished 33rd in today's race at Las Vegas.

Dave Blaney started today's Las Vegas race in the 11th position and finished 42nd.

The No. 13 car (Joe Nemechek) made contact with Dave Blaney's Camry in turn 4 on lap 17 to bring out the third caution of the day. The contact forced the No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota to retire from the race.

Among the seven Toyota Camrys participating in the Nextel Cup Series, Dale Jarrett and Dave Blaney are the only drivers to start all three races this year (Daytona, California and Las Vegas.)

DAVE BLANEY, No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing:

What happened out there? "The 07 (Clint Bowyer) got into the 13 (Joe Nemechek) and spun him out and I just tried to avoid it and I just lost it. I was too close to it, going too fast and just didn't do a good job avoiding it. Everything seemed fine to me starting off. One guy runs into another one and then bad stuff happens."

DALE JARRETT, No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing:

What did you learn in today's race? "We just had to try to make adjustments every stop to see what it was going to do to our car. We found some things today that will be a little better. But, we know the biggest thing is we have to go back and work on our bodies. We've got to get some more downforce in these cars. We are just not capable of doing the things that these other guys are doing with their cars. That will help us more than anything, then we can show how good the pit crew is and that we've got smart guys, but downforce will make a lot of difference. So, we've got to get back and work on our bodies."

When do you think you'll have cars with more downforce? "It is not going to happen before Atlanta, but then we have a few weeks before we run these downforce cars again. Hopefully, before we get to that next point, I guess it would be Texas, we'll have a new generation of car that will be a lot better for us."

MATT BORLAND, Crew Chief, No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing:

What did you learn today that will help you down the road? "We've learned a lot of things, including what not to do, which is always good. We have a good direction on what to work on and what is going to make the biggest impact, as wel l as learning how to communicate better since we have a new team. To get everyone on the same language -- that helps a lot during the races."

Where do you think you are in terms of communication? "It's pretty good, but there are just little things -- like we had a couple of miscues today. I don't know if I said things wrong or heard things wrong, but when you have a team that is established everyone kind of knows what everybody is thinking without even saying anything and we are not there yet. It's a whole new group of guys, a great group of guys and it's the first time we've all worked together. So, we're learning quite a bit with just those things. Hopefully when we are running better, we won't make the mistakes we've been making."
