KASEY KAHNE QUOTES:
“It’s great going back to Lowe’s as the defending Bank of America 500 champion. Sweeping both races there last year was a great accomplishment by the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge team. Last year, we had a very successful season. This year, we’ve had our challenges, but I think we’re finally getting the handling issues under control. I’m really looking forward to the race Saturday night. It would be good to get a win with the Dodge Charger before we move on to the Avenger for all the races next year.
“I was involved in an accident early in the first race (Coca-Cola 600) this year. I’ve had good luck and bad luck at Lowe’s, led a lot of laps and had a chance to win on several occasions. We’re ready for a win.”
QUICK FACTS
The No. 9 will be featuring a special Mopar-blue paint scheme for this weekend’s race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
In the Bank of America 500 last fall Kahne qualified second and led 134 laps en route to his second career victory at Charlotte.
Kahne swept both the spring and fall races at Lowe’s in 2006.
His average start at the “Beast of the Southeast” is 12.4.
Kahne has qualified in the top-10 in all but three career starts at the 1.5-mile quad-oval.
Kahne is in his fourth season with Gillett Evernham Motorsports. He posted a series-high six wins last year and earned a berth in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.
