WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE COCA-COLA 600 NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES RACE AT LOWE’S MOTOR SPEEDWAY, MAY 27, 2007.
Jimmie Johnson led eight times for 83 laps to earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the Coca-Cola 600. Johnson claimed the award for the second time this season. He has led at least one lap in each of the last four races and a total of 613 laps this season.
Johnson finished 10th in tonight’s race, his fifth consecutive top-10 finish. Johnson racked up his ninth top-10 finish 12 starts this season.
Johnson is second in the NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings, 132 points behind leader Jeff Gordon. Johnson leads third-place Matt Kenseth by 75 and fourth-place Denny Hamlin by 107 points.
Gordon leads Tony Stewart (4-3) in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
