LifeLock 400 - Tony Raines Notes

TEAM RED BULL
KANSAS SPEEDWAY
LIFELOCK 400

ENTRIES: Red Bull No. 83 Brian Vickers and Red Bull No. 84 AJ Allmendinger
RACE: NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, “Lifelock 400”
TRACK: Kansas Speedway, Kansas City, KS
DATES: September 28-30, 2007

+ TOP 10 REASONS …
… why Red Bull Racing is gung-ho for Kansas:
10. Our first top five came at a 1.5-mile track.
9. There’s nothing quite like a Kansas City strip steak.
8. More time to work out the kinks in our COTs.
7. One week closer to Scott Speed’s ARCA debut.
6. We’re off to the see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz.
5. Kansas City has the cleanest tap water in the United States.
4. Britney Spears is not making a comeback appearance.
3. It’s not tornado season.
2. We’ll arrive just in time to catch “The Office” premier.
1. We want ringside seats for Petty-Hamlin II.

+ BUSCH BLURB
Where there’s purple, there’s AJ Allmendinger. He’ll drive Chip Ganassi Racing’s No. 42 Memorex Dodge (you can’t miss it) in Saturday’s Busch Series race at Kansas Speedway. Brian Vickers, the 2003 Busch champion, returns to Braun Racing’s No. 10 Toyota for the Yellow Transportation 300.

+ QUOTES
Brian Vickers, No. 83 driver – “Great steaks. Kansas City has great steaks. I love going there for the steaks. But Kansas also has great race fans. That place is full every time we go there. I like the mile-and-a-half tracks, and we seem to have our act together when we go to tracks like that. I look forward to a good weekend at Kansas.”

Doug Richert, No. 83 crew chief – “I am optimistic going into the weekend. Kansas is a bigger, banked track like the others we have been the most successful at this year. We feel like we continue to learn things each week, and our intermediate program seems to be pretty good. The big focus is still on Friday’s qualifying and making the race. After we know we are in, we will work to get the best race car we can for the best finish that can move us up in the points.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 84 driver – “I am looking forward to getting back to racing at an intermediate track again. We had our best finish of the year at California a few weeks ago and think we can use what we learned there toward another good finish in Kansas. The No. 84 team is on a streak of five races in a row now, and I look forward to building on that this weekend.”

Ricky Viers, No. 84 crew chief – “Well, we can’t say we aren’t in Kansas anymore because that is where we will be racing this weekend. Maybe we should bring Toto to the track for good luck after the bad luck we had last weekend in Dover. Seriously, though, we need to bounce back these last eight races, and I think we have a good chance of doing just that. Kansas Speedway is not exactly like California Speedway, but California was our last intermediate ‘Car of Today’ race and also our best finish of year. We are taking a lot of what we learned there to help us this weekend. This team is strong and never gives up — and we also have a driver that never gives up. With the remaining tracks that are coming up, it should make for a pretty exciting next eight races.”
