MICHAEL WALTRIP, No. 55 NAPA Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting position: 11th
How was your qualifying run?
"My qualifying lap was pretty good. The guys did a great job of adjusting our Camry. We weren't really happy after
practice. One good thing, I was able to go out at the end of practice on 'scuffs' and was able to outrun my fastest time,
and 'scuffs' are usually slower. I felt like once we put our 'stickers' on, everything would work the way we thought and
we would be in. It's still not any fun, no matter what. There's so much pressure and it's so intense. But, we got in and
now we'll concentrate on racing."
DALE JARRETT, No. 44 UPS Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting position: 13th
How was your qualifying run?
"The car has been good all day long. We went to Kentucky Speedway on Tuesday -- with nothing on our minds except
trying to go faster. It paid off. We found some things that really helped all three cars, I believe. For the second week in a
row, we got all three of the MWR cars in the race."
DAVID REUTIMANN, No. 00 Dominos.com Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing
Starting position: 25th
Are you happy with your qualifying run?
"Don't have much choice. You tape it up and stuff -- it's only going to run one lap. Then, the tires fall off so bad your
only going to run one lap anyway. I think that's good enough. Hopefully, the sun stays up there and it doesn't get any
cooler because if it does we're probably going to suffer some."
Is qualifying the current car less difficult than using the Car of Tomorrow?
"It's all difficult. No matter what you're driving, the pressure is t he same. The COT stuff is a little more unforgiving
because of the configuration of the car."
Is it a Reutimann family reunion this weekend at Kansas?
"My cousin, Wayne Jr., is on the pole for the USAC race and my Uncle came in last night and he's going to run that race,
as well. They had another car and the field was a little short, so m y Uncle is going to run the USAC race. My Dad, and
my Mom, and my Aunt are here -- there are Reutimanns running around all over the place."
How are you helping your Uncle?
"I asked Wayne Jr., why they weren't going to let my Uncle race. And he said that tires are pretty expensive, and they're
on a fixed budget with that program. I said if he wants to race I'll buy tires. Next thing you know, he's running the race
and I'm out a couple grand. But, it's money well spent."
JEREMY MAYFIELD, No. 36 360 OTC Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing
Starting position: 26th
How was your qualifying run?
"The guys put a new body on this car and it seems to really suit my driving style a little bit better. We've done all we can
do here. I was loose -- it was real bad loose."
