LifeLock 400 - Dodge Qualifying Quotes

KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)

“Track temp picked up a bunch from where we practiced, so we didn’t know where we needed to be in our range and then we were real loose with one setup and real tight with another, so we shot for the middle of that one too. We’ll see where we end up. Qualifying is important here at Kansas just as leading laps are here in the Chase, but finishing is the most important and that’s what we have to do on Sunday.”

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)

“We made some gains. We were real tight in practice and loose there. The front still didn’t work quite like we wanted it to, so I don’t know. It was a handful, but it was good. It was a pretty decent lap for where we were. I think we gained more or loss less than most of the other cars so just want to make some gains.”

DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO BE BACK IN A CONVENTIONAL CAR OR WOULD YOU RATHER BE IN A COT? “It doesn’t really matter to me right now. Whatever car we’re in we just try to get better, because we have work on all of them, so it doesn’t matter either way.”

DAVID STREMME (No. 40 Energizer Dodge Charger)

“It wasn’t very good, but going out 10th doesn’t help much. It’s just gotten hot and there isn’t a lot of grip, so we’re just going to concentrate on Sunday.”

BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger)

“It just didn’t have the grip that we had in practice. The track has definitely heated up. The balance wasn’t too bad. We just couldn’t go as fast as we need to go.”

ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger)

“We’re still struggling a little bit with this thing. I think it’s going to be a decent run. Maybe 15th or 20th, but we’re just trying to get it in the race track, trying to get it comfortable for us. We’re way too tight. We’ll just keep working on it. We have two practices tomorrow to try and get it ready for Sunday.”

REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target/Lysol Dodge Charger)

“It was loose. The track lost some grip there from practice, but I thought coming to the green it was good and I got looser as it went. I just couldn’t get it wide open as fast as I needed to. The back end was kind of hung out all the way through, but the car was pretty good. That should put us around the top 15 so we should be alright.”

JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 49 LifeLock Dodge Charger)

“Honestly, I didn’t think it was as quick as what we ran. I’m real proud of the LifeLock.com team. We unloaded we had to work on it. We worked on it a lot and made a lot of gains, but I’m glad that’s over with. I mean, I think we’ll be okay and make it in, we only have to beat one more and there’s five more to go, so from that stand point I feel pretty good, but it was a scary qualifying run. I don’t want to do any more of those.”

SCOTT RIGGS (No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger)

“I’m really proud of all the guys on the Valvoline Dodge. They’ve done a great job and I know that we were pretty good in practice, but we just kept fine tuning. All we did was qualifying runs. Rodney Childers sat down and did some good thinking and made a good change on the car. You’ve got to be in the racetrack to be fast and we made some air pressure adjustments right there before qualifying and I thought about what I could do line wise to get the car a little bit faster. It all came together and made for a good run for us.

“I’ve got to say one thing, our spotter Jimmy Kitchens lost his dad last week so this is for him.”

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 alltel Dodge Charger)

“It was a good run for us. We picked up from practice and not many people did. I think (Jimmie) Johnson was the only other one that did. It was a good run for the alltell Dodge. We had four this year (poles), just so you know. Don’t sell me out short. It was a great effort for the Alltel Dodge and hopefully we’ll just keep going here.”
