WIX FILTERS LAP LEADER NOTES FOR THE ALLSTATE 400 AT THE BRICKYARD NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES RACE AT INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY, JULY 29, 2007.

Tony Stewart led seven times for 65 laps earn WIX Filters Lap Leader of the Race honors in the Allstate 400 at The Brickyard. Stewart captured the award for the fifth time this season and for the second consecutive race. Stewart has led 831 laps in 14 races this season.

Stewart won today’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, his second win of the 2007 season, crossing the finish line 2.982 seconds ahead of Raybestos Rookie Juan Pablo Montoya. The victory was his 31st in 304 NASCAAR NEXTEL Cup Series races. He collected his sixth top-five and 13th top-10 in 20 starts this season.

STEWART QUOTES: “This thing was pretty good in traffic all day long. For some reason, I got really tight in Turn 1 on that restart. I was just trying to be patient. That’s a hard guy to race with [Kevin Harvick]. He’s a clean guy. He’s one of my best friends and I can’t think of another guy I’d want to race with for the lead. I felt good in the car today. This one is for everyone in the stands who pull for me and have to take all the bull from everyone else.”

UNOFFICIALLY Stewart is fifth in NEXTEL Cup Series championship standings, nine points behind fourth-place Jeff Burton. He leads sixth-place Carl Edwards by 42.

Stewart leads Jeff Gordon (5-4) by one race in the overall WIX Filters Lap Leader standings.
