Allstate 400 at the Brickyard - David Stremme Notes

David Stremme
Brickyard Advance

Race: Brickyard 400, July 29th
Track: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2.5-mile oval)
Location: Indianapolis, Ind.

David Stremme and the No. 40 Target Dodge Team Facts:

  • Seeing Double: Celebrating an 18-year partnership and rich racing history together that includes a win (2000, Montoya-IRL) and a pole (2004, Mears-NNCS) at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), CGRFS will be running two Target Dodges in the Brickyard 400. Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 crew will be sporting their usual paint scheme, while David Stremme and the No. 40 team will run the exact opposite color scheme.

  • There is no Place like Home: Indiana native Stremme will be racing in front of a Hoosier crowd as he makes his homecoming to Indiana. Stremme grew up in South Bend, Ind. just a few hours north of the Brickyard.

  • Downtown Demo Driving: Stremme along with teammates Juan Pablo Montoya and Reed Sorenson were let loose on the streets of Chicago during the Chicagoland race weekend driving streetgoing replicas of their NASCAR cars. Stremme, Montoya, and Sorenson were in town through Monday to attend the Chicago Cubs game and sing ‘Take me out to the ball game” for a Wrigley’s chewing gum appearance event.

  • Standings Update: Stremme and the No. 40 car finished 34th at Chicagoland after suffering a pit lane drive through penalty coupled with mechanical issues that ultimately forced the team out of contention 10 laps shy of the full race distance. The No. 40 team is currently 25th in the NNCS point standings and is -470 markers back of the 12th and final transfer spot in the chase for the NEXTEL Cup.

  • Chassis Selection: Crew chief Steve Lane and the team have selected chassis #621 for this weekend’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. This weekend will be the fourth time #621 takes to the track this season helping the team grab three top-20 finishes.

  • Be sure to Tune In: The Allstate 400 at the Brickyard is set to go green at 1 p.m. ET Sunday. The race will air live on ESPN, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
