No. 06 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger
Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway
NNCS Notes:
Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the No. 06 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will attempt to make his second NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday.
Hornish will also attempt his second double-duty weekend at the 1.5-mile oval.
In seven IndyCar starts at Homestead, Hornish has produced two poles, three victories and six top-five finishes.
Last weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Hornish made his inaugural NEXTEL Cup start. He qualified 26th and finished 30th.
Hornish will drive the No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series full time for Penske Racing in 2008 alongside teammates Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman.
PRS-511: This weekend's car was last driven by Kurt Busch in October at Lowe's Motor Speedway where he started eighth and finished 26th. He also raced this car in July at Chicagoland where he started 35th and finished sixth.
PRS-508: This weekend's backup car dates back to 2002 when it was originally piloted by Rusty Wallace.
SAM'S TAKE ON HOMESTEAD:
"Although it won't be in the car I'll be racing next year, I'm excited about going into Homestead, especially with one Cup race under my belt and six top-three finishes in the IndyCar Series. It's going to be another great opportunity to get more seat time and experience on an intermediate track in the Busch and Cup cars. Hopefully, we'll just continue improving on our performance from last week and learn as much as I can."
ROY'S TAKE ON HOMESTEAD:
"We probably played it a little conservative at Phoenix, but our goal right now is to get as many miles as possible. Homestead is going to be a good opportunity to expand upon our performance at Phoenix, Sam getting more experience and seat time, even though it's not in the car we'll be running next year. He's raced in the Busch car and he has raced in the IndyCar Series at Homestead. So, hopefully, all those things will add up to us being able to make the show and having a good solid day. "
