KENNY WALLACE WILL DRIVE #88 SNICKERS® FORD AT DOVER
CHARLOTTE, NC (September 19, 2007) – The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series travels Dover International Speedway this weekend for the Dodge Dealers 400. For the third week in a row, Kenny Wallace will drive the #88 Snickers® Ford while Ricky Rudd continues to recover from his separated shoulder injury which has kept him out of the driver’s seat for three weeks. This weekend’s Dodge Dealers 400 marks the second race in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Chase for the NEXTEL Cup.
Quoting Snickers Driver, Kenny Wallace:
Looking to Dover this weekend, Dover has given you some challenging races in the past. How are you feeling heading into this weekend with the Snickers Ford?
“I’m very blessed to be in the car. Ricky (Rudd) still isn’t fully healed this week so I’m going to return and try to help the #88 team this weekend at Dover. I really have a love/hate relationship with Dover. I’ve had some good runs there, and those are the runs I always try to remember when we head there for a race. I really enjoy the track a lot and I’m just waiting to love the track but I really feel that I can do well up there in the Car of Tomorrow this weekend. For as much as I enjoy Dover, I haven’t had the finishes that I should have so far but I’m just going to keep on trying.”
What are your thoughts on the Car of Tomorrow (COT) now that you’ve driven the COT for the past two weeks and also helped Robert Yates Racing test the COT at Talladega?
“I really do like the Car of Tomorrow. This weekend at Dover will be the second week in a row that I’ve driven the #88 Snickers Car of Tomorrow chassis. The COT is interesting so far and I think that when we go to flat tracks, like Richmond or Loudon, the car deals some teams a problem. These past few weekends there have been one or two cars that have been able to pull away from the field and those are the guys that really seem to have this car figured out. It seems like everyone is still trying to figure out what they need with the COT. I feel it’s a great car and in about two years we’re going to look back at this car and say ‘that was a really good decision’ so I’m really looking forward to seeing the progress teams make.”
