Dodge Dealers 400 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/CARQUEST IMPALA SS)
VENUE: DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY (ONE-MILE OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES (RACE 28 OF 36)
EVENT: SUNDAY, SEPT. 23, 2007 (400 LAPS, 400 MILES)

PIT CREW WINNERS: The No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST crew won its second Checkers/Rally's Double-Drive Thru challenge last weekend at New Hampshire International Speedway. The win puts the No. 5 team in the running for "Pit Crew of the Year," which is awarded at the end of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season. The team spent the least amount of time on pit road en route to a fourth-place finish at NHIS.

MONSTER-FRIENDLY: Kyle Busch has earned three top-five finishes in five starts at Dover International Speedway. As a rookie in the Cup Series in 2005, Busch posted runner-up finishes in both Dover races. He scored a fifth-place finish in the spring of 2006 and has led 112 circuits over his five NEXTEL Cup starts at "The Monster Mile." Busch suffered a mechanical failure one year ago, finishing 40th, marking his worst finish on the one-mile oval to date.

CUT TO THE CHASE: Busch moved up four positions to fifth in the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup championship standings with a fourth-place finish at New Hampshire last Sunday. A year ago, Busch left NHIS 10th in the standings following an early-race accident.

ONE MONSTER TROPHY: Busch has one "Miles the Monster" trophy on display in his personal trophy case. He earned the prize after leading 19 laps in his Chevy Silverado in the June 2005 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. In three truck starts at Dover, Busch has led a total of 182 laps and notched two top-10 finishes.

CHASSIS 418 TO DOVER: Crew chief Alan Gustafson has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 418 as the primary Impala SS for this weekend's NEXTEL Cup event at Dover. The car finished seventh earlier this season at Phoenix International Raceway.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/CARQUEST IMPALA SS: (ON HIS SUCCESS AT DOVER.) "Dover has been a great track for me. At this race one year ago we had a mechanical failure and finished 40th. Otherwise, I have had great success there in both the Cup and the Truck Series. I don't know what about Dover actually suits my driving style, but it does."

BUSCH: (ON HIS FIRST IMPRESSION OF DOVER.) "I'm not afraid to admit that I was scared of Dover when I first got there (LAUGHS). It's an intimidating track. At the spring race this year we had a bump stop break and we hit the wall. I rode around there for almost 300 miles two laps down to the leaders and wounded, but we still finished 17th. So, even on a bad day at Dover we've been able to salvage something."

BUSCH: (ON WHAT HAS PREVENTED HIM FROM WINNING AT DOVER.) "We've been fast at Dover and had great runs, but we've never been able to figure it out in the end. Finding the right balance has been difficult and we were either the best car or close to it, but we've gotten beaten at the end. How to be there at the end is the main thing we need to figure out."

BUSCH: (ON PROBLEMS IN DOVER.) "We had some problems that were self-inflicted, so I think that we have fixed them. It's always been a good place for me so we hope to get back to our good-running ways."

BUSCH: (ON THE DRIVER TO BEAT.) "Last time at Dover, Martin Truex Jr, was the class of the field and I think he will be again. You always have to look out for Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman at Dover as well. They all seem to have that place figured out."
