Pepsi 400 - Scott Riggs Notes

Scott Riggs
No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger Race Facts
Nextel Cup Series --- Daytona International Speedway

Driver: Scott Riggs
Team Director: Rodney Childers
Engineer: Kevin Kidd
Team/Owner: Valvoline Evernham Racing
Designated team owner, Jim Rocco
Chassis: No. 43
Info: Riggs piloted this chassis to an 11th place finish at Talladega.

SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:
“The past two weeks have been sort of a low point of this season. But we still hold 36th position in Owner Points. This Valvoline Evernham Racing team is determined now more than ever to pick up that final spot to secure us a starting position for the second half of the season. Friday will be a tricky qualifying session because it is impound and the teams have to figure out the right amount of oil to run in their cars to make the field, yet still be able to last all 400 miles. I know several cars outside of the top 35 made the race but then blew engines over the course of the event at Talladega earlier this season. This is one of those situations where it helps to have Valvoline as a technical partner. That’s one of the reasons we were able to make the race in Talladega and then go on to finish 11th.”

QUICK FACTS:

  • Scott Riggs’s best finish at Daytona International Speedway is fourth in the Daytona 500 in 2005.
  • Riggs' second best finish of the season came at Talladega in the spring when he finished 11th.
  • Based on Valvoline Evernham Racing’s position in Nextel Cup Owner Points, the team will need to qualify for this weekend’s race on time.
  • Riggs currently sits 36th in Nextel Cup Owners points, 182 markers outside of the top 35.
