Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:

  • Daytona 500 qualifying: Sorenson and the Target team experienced electrical problems during their qualifying effort for the Daytona 500. Their one lap run placed them 44th out of 61 teams attempting to make the race.
  • 2006 NEXTEL Cup Series Stats
    - First career top-five finish (Michigan, June 18)
    - Five top-10 finishes (Atlanta, Mar. 19; Lowe’s, May 28; Michigan, June 18; Chicagoland, July 9; Michigan, Aug. 20)
    - Led a total of 91 laps collectively at Michigan, Chicagoland, Loudon, Watkins Glen, Dover, Talladega and Daytona.
    - Completed 9,860 out of a possible 10,600 laps of competition (92.5%)
    - Average Start: 25.6
    - Average Finish: 23.1
  • Daytona Stats: Sorenson has six starts at DIS in either the NNCS or Busch Series with a best finish of fifth coming in his first start at the track in the Busch Series race on Feb. 19, 2005. His best NNCS finish at the 2.5-mile track is 29th, which came in last season’s Daytona 500.
  • Birthday Boy: Sorenson recently celebrated his 21st birthday while testing in Las Vegas on Feb. 5. He is the youngest driver competing full time in the NNCS.
  • Double Duty: In addition to running a full schedule in the NNCS, Sorenson is scheduled to run 18 Busch Series events this season, 15 in the No. 41 Juicy Fruit Dodge and three in the Memorex Dodge. He will share driving duties with teammate Stremme (No. 41 WinterFresh Dodge) and CGRFS development driver Bryan Clauson (No. 41 Memorex Dodge).
  • TUMS-tu-TUMS-TUMS: Sorenson, Stremme and TUMS Racing will host a special media event at Daytona to unveil the new TUMS “Diner-mobile”, release the TUMS Track Tour and provide interview opportunities. The event will take place from 4:45-5:15 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 14, in the Daytona International Speedway display area located on the front stretch.
  • Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target team have selected chassis #602 for the Daytona 500. This is the same car that was used in both Daytona races last season.
