SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:
“What a difference a year has made for this Valvoline Evernham Racing team. Last year at this time we were faced with the challenge of having to race our way into the 500 during the Duel 150s. Now we are locked into the show, thanks to the way this team performed the remainder of last season. Obviously missing the 500 was a sort of rallying point for us last season and we went on to accomplish a lot for a first year team. We never wanted the 2006 season to end, so we have anxiously been waiting for 2007 to be here.”
On the penalties for three Evernham Team Directors handed out after qualifying for the Duel 150’s…
“I don’t think this is something that is going to slow us down as a race team because of the way we have our teams structured, and the depth we can draw from. It will make us pull together even more because we believe in each other. Like Ray (Evernham) said, this is something we’ve already had on our car before. A bolt is not going to slow the momentum of our race team.”
On his run in the Duel 150 and the incredible save in the end when a tire went flat…
“We did a good job on making adjustments to the Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge. The main thing we wanted to do is learn as much as we could and try to be there at the end. We did not get a chance to race for it at the end. We had to back down and try to save the car from tearing the left front fender off with the flat tire that we had. The team did a great job considering what they had to overcome this past week, we made some big gains and we will be ready for Sunday.”
