Budweiser Shootout - Brian Vickers Notes

Brian Vickers
Team Red Bull - Bud Shootout Advance

ENTRY: Red Bull Toyota -- No. 83 Brian Vickers
RACE: Budweiser Shootout
TRACK: Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL
RACE DATE: February 10, 2007

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY
Team Red Bull opened their doors in January 2006 and ever since has been counting down the months, days, and finally the hours ‘til their NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series debut this Saturday at the Budweiser Shootout. There have been good moments, bad moments and, frankly, some ugly moments since last January. Indeed, the past year was one of hectic preparation – no doubt from all the “newness” that the team has been coping with – a new race shop, new employees, new drivers, and an engine manufacturer new to the Cup Series – Toyota. But the dawn of the debut season has arrived. Hold on to your hats. It’s Go Time strangers. Make yer move!

BRIAN’S BUDWEISER HANGOVERS
2006: Finished 21 out of 21 cars (in No. 25 car)
2005: Finished 19 out of 20 cars (in No. 25 car)

SUPERSIZED DONUTS
You could say Red Bull dabbles into both NASCAR and Supercross – two of the most popular forms of racing in America – so it was only fitting for Brian Vickers to make a visit to Anaheim Stadium in SoCal to check out the AMA Supercross action last Saturday night. After hanging with the Red Bull KTM team, plus Red Bull athletes like MotoGP World Champ Nicky Hayden, skateboarding phenom Ryan Scheckler, and X-Games freestyle MXer Tommy Clowers, Vickers hopped inside his waiting racecar and did donuts in the dirt for the 45,000 cheering fans. Now that is what a showcar appearance is all about.

FREE QUOTES
Brian Vickers, No. 83 Driver -- “I’m really pumped to get out on the track for the first time this year! The Bud Shootout is good for practicing for the Daytona 500, but this race is more of a fun race – a dash for the cash. Whether you win the race or come back with just your steering wheel, it’s a great way to entertain the fans in the Money Shootout – I mean Bud Shootout.”

Doug Richert, No. 83 Crew Chief -- “I’m actually a little anxious going into this weekend. I think if you don’t go into this thing being a little bit nervous, then you’re not human. Everything about our team is brand new and we’re all curious to see how we stack up against everybody else on the race track.”

AJ Allmendinger, No. 84 Driver -- “Why are you asking me for a comment? I’m not racing in the Bud Shootout. Vickers is the one that scored a pole position last year. I’ll be watching from the sidelines and cheering for BV just like the rest of the team.”
