The following are Team Chevy qualifying quotes for the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Impala SS, will start Saturday's race from the ninth position while Jeff Burton, No. 31 RCR Impala SS, will line up on the grid 10th.
Tomorrow's Sharpie 500 will take the green flag at 8 p.m. Race coverage will be broadcast live on ESPN and PRN.
Jeff Burton, No. 31 RCR Impala SS - Qualified 10th
"For us it's a good starting spot and for anybody a top 10 is a good starting spot. We hoped to be a little better. We made a few changes and I didn't quite get all of it that I think I could have gotten but nonetheless it's a good starting spot."
Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Shell/Pennzoil Platinum Impala SS - Qualified 13th
ON HOW THE CAR WAS IN QUALIFYING:
"We slide around a lot right now. I had a good first lap, the second lap wasn't very good. It was ok. Everything has gone pretty good so far. Our Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet has been good since we unloaded it. The Busch car has been good, we just have to race good. That is the focus."
Dale Earnhardt, Jr., No. 8 Budweiser Impala SS - Qualified 17th
"The first lap, it was good and tried to back the corner up getting speed off the corner for the second lap and it just got out from under me but I'm real happy with being able to pick up a little bit. We were not very happy in practice so we'll take that. The track's going to be quicker and we'll be beat by some guys but that's OK. Love the race track. They did a good job on it. I think the fan's are gonna appreciate it. I think this race will be exciting but give it about two or three more years and you're really going to have something here. It's pretty neat and they get the tire dialed in, it's a little hard right now, but if we come off that a little bit and get a little softer tire we'll be able to race all over this thing so it'll be fun."
Tony Stewart, No. 20 Home Depot Impala SS - Qualified 23rd
DOES GOING OUT EARLY HURT YOU HERE EVEN WITH THE CONCRETE?
"I probably hurt us here more than the heat and the concrete do. I just have struggled today trying to get used this hard tire. My favorite thing to complain about is hard tires."
Jeff Green, No. 66 Samsung HDTV Chevrolet Impala SS - Qualified 39th
"Well, we're definitely not starting in the top-10 like we did in March, that's for sure. We've struggled with this new surface today. When I took my lap, the left side was hitting the track, almost like it was the left side frame rail hitting. We've got our work cut out for us to get this thing better in final practice, and by starting in the back tomorrow. It's possible to come from the rear of the field here, but it ain't going to be easy. I'd sure rather start closer to the front."
