Sharpie 500 - Kyle Busch Notes

PREVIEW: KYLE BUSCH (NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/CARQUEST IMPALA SS)
VENUE: BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY (.533-MILE CONCRETE OVAL)
CIRCUIT: NASCAR NEXTEL CUP SERIES (RACE 24 OF 36)
EVENT: SATURDAY, AUG. 25, 2007 (500 LAPS, 266.5 MILES)

DEFENDING AT BRISTOL: On Saturday night, Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet, will attempt to win his second of two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in 2007. In March at the half-mile bullring, Busch became the first-ever winner in the Impala SS "Car of Tomorrow" and recorded Chevy's 600th Cup Series victory.

IMPRESSIVE AT BRISTOL: Over the past three seasons, Busch has racked up some impressive stats at Bristol. In the NEXTEL Cup Series alone, he has one win, two top-five finishes and three top-10s. Busch has an average finish of 14.4 and has also earned the 10th-best driver rating with a score of 90.3.

BUSCH GOING FOR BRISTOL TRIFECTA: Busch will attempt to complete 950 laps at Bristol this week by driving in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series events.

CALLING ALL KIDS: Busch is looking for a little assistance from young, creative minds all over the world to help design his new helmet. To enter the helmet design contest, visit www.kylebusch.com to download a helmet template and mail it in. The contest runs through Sept. 30, with Busch picking the winning helmet during the month of October. The lucky winner will receive a full-size replica helmet of their winning design. Children ages 18 and under are eligible.

TRUSTY '411' AT BRISTOL: Crew chief Alan Gustafson has selected Hendrick Motorsports Chassis No. 411 for this weekend's NEXTEL Cup event at Bristol. It is the same Impala SS that Busch drove to victory lane there in March.

KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/CARQUEST IMPALA SS: (ON THE NEW SURFACE AT BRISTOL.) "It's completely different. There is nothing about that track that is the same as it was before. I'm looking forward to it, though, because we don't really know what it's going to entail. I heard the late model races have been great so I'm interested to see. It should be fun."

BUSCH: (ON HIS POINTS POSITION FOR THE CHASE.) "I think we're in a good position for the Chase points-wise. I would have liked to get some more wins and get the bonus points, but it's still OK. We're solidly in, and ready to make a go at it."

BUSCH: (ON RUNNING ALL THREE RACES.) "I think running all three races will help me get used to the new track surface. During testing, the track was kind of boring for me because the old Bristol had so many different characteristics. I'm sure it will still be an exciting race, but I think that it will take a few winters to get the track re-seasoned."

ALAN GUSTAFSON, CREW CHIEF OF THE NO. 5 KELLOGG'S/CARQUEST IMPALA SS: (ON THE CHANGES AT BRISTOL.) "Even though we won at Bristol in the spring, we are going back to a brand new race track. The folks at Bristol Motor Speedway did a great job in the repaving. It will be a little different race than we've had in the past, but I think it will still be a great event for the fans. I know there's a lot of anticipation. The track will be slick until we get some rubber down, but it should still be a typical Bristol race. I can't wait. I want the sweep."
