Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:
Looking for a Bristol Breakthrough: Sorenson is hoping his luck takes a turn for the better at the .533-mile Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS). His first race at the track in the spring Busch Series race in 2005 resulted in an impressive third-place finish, followed by an 11th-place finish in the fall. Since, his best finish is 16th which came in this season’s spring Busch race. In three Cup series starts at the track he has finished 22nd, 36th and 43rd. Most of Sorenson’s misfortune at Bristol is a result of being caught up in accidents that are fairly common at the short, high-banked track.
Fellow Tennessean: Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) team manger Tony Glover hails from Kingsport, Tenn. Glover has been involved in racing for 34 years, with career highlights including back-to-back Daytona 500 wins (‘94, ’95) as crew chief for Sterling Marling, 1991 AC Delco crew chief of the year and 1992 Western Auto crew chief of the year.
Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target team have selected chassis #734 for the race at BMS. This is the same chassis the team used at Richmond earlier in the season (21st-place finish).
Points Update: The Target team dropped one position to 25th in the overall NEXTEL Cup Series standings after their 28th-place finish in the last event at Watkins Glen. The team is 173 points outside of the top 20 heading into Michigan.
Be Sure to Tune In: The Sharpie 500 at BMS is set to go green at 8 p.m. ET Sunday. The race will air live on ESPN, PRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
