Sharpie 500 - David Stremme Notes

David Stremme
Bristol Advance

Race: Sharpie 500 on Saturday, August 25
Track: Bristol Motor Speedway (.533-mile oval)
Location: Bristol, Tenn.

David Stremme and the No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Team Facts:

  • Bristol Take Two: David Stremme will take to the track for the second time this season at Bristol Motor Speedway. Stremme and the No. 40 Coors Light team started the Food City 500 33rd and was running as high as fourth with less than 10 laps remaining, but had to pit for tires just before a green-white-checkered and finished 13th. Stremme was the highest finishing Dodge driver in the 43-car field.

  • Wrigley’s Return: Stremme will make his sixth NASCAR Busch Series start for CGRFS in 2007 Friday night at BMS, but the first behind the wheel of the No. 42 Wrigley’s Winterfresh Dodge. Stremme’s previous five starts all came in the No. 41 car with crew chief Brian Pattie.

  • Play Ball: The Greenville Drive showed CGRFS driver David Stremme and his Coors Light crew some southern hospitality earlier this week. The SC minor league baseball team literally opened the doors to the stadium for Stremme as he drove the No. 40 Coors Light Dodge out of the right field wall, around the warning track and down the third baseline before stopping at home plate to throw out the first pitch. Stremme sported a personalized number 40 Drive jersey for the game which was dubbed “Green Day” at the ballpark in recognition of the City of Greenville’s 176th birthday. He and the team spent time on the field meeting with Drive players before the game, and handed out CGRFS merchandise to the crowd between the third and fourth innings. Stremme’s show of hospitality served as the turning point for the Drive, as they enjoyed their biggest come-from-behind victory of the year, defeating the Lakewood BlueClaws 8-7 in front of 4,732 fans. Trailing by as many as six runs, Greenville scored in their final four innings for the win.

  • Chassis: Crew Chief Steve Lane has selected chassis #733 for the Sharpie 500 this weekend. Chassis #733 also saw action at the Food City 500 at Bristol in March. The team ran the Dodge Avenger in NASCAR’s first ever Car of Tomorrow event, but a sporadic race-long radio problem caused miscommunication in the final laps and nixed the team’s hopes of a top-five finish.

  • Be Sure to Tune in: The green flag is set to wave Saturday, August 25th at 7 p.m. E.T. at Bristol Motor Speedway. The Sharpie 500 will air live on ESPN, MRN Radio, and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
