EXPRESS NOTES:
Hamlin Leads Career-High 179 laps at Darlington; COT Success Continues for #11 Team: Denny Hamlin and the #11 FedEx team led a race-high 179 laps in Sunday’s Dodge Avenger 500 at Darlington Raceway before having a setback in the pits late in the race to settle for second place behind Jeff Gordon . The #11 FedEx Express car was again the car to beat and gave yet another strong showing in the fifth COT race of the season. The #11 FedEx team has secured a top-five finish in four of the five COT races this season. By finishing second and leading a career-high 179 laps, Hamlin stayed idle at fourth in points through eleven races of the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule.

Hamlin at All-Star Weekend: This will be Hamlin’s second appearance at NASCAR’s All-Star Weekend. In the 2006 NEXTEL Open, Hamlin started second on the grid and led one lap before finishing fourth and missing a spot in NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. Hamlin will be running in his first NEXTEL All-Star Challenge by way of his two 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series wins at Pocono Raceway.

Hamlin at Charlotte: Hamlin has secured two top-ten finishes in his three Cup point’s races during his young career at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

All-Star Showcase for the FedEx “Wear Your Heart on Your Helmet” Program: Hamlin will continue FedEx’s 2007 “Wear Your Heart on Your Helmet” campaign in Charlotte this weekend by wearing the second of 11 helmets designed by children’s hospital patients and Make-A-Wish recipients. Hamlin will be wearing a special FedEx helmet designed by 10-year-old acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patient Tristan K. from Havlock, North Carolina, who is having his wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, during the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. In addition, several Make-A-Wish kids will have the opportunity to meet and have their picture taken with Hamlin prior to the race. The eleven helmets will be designed by children’s hospital patients and Make-A-Wish kids in race markets throughout the 2007 season. The Make-A-Wish Foundation will be presented a check of $50,000 on behalf of FedEx when the Cup series visits the Phoenix International Raceway in November. Following the season, all of the race-worn helmets will be auctioned off to benefit Victory Junction.

All-Star Challenge Chassis JGR 146 and JGR 140: This will be the first start for JGR Chassis 146 after serving as the back up in two previous NNCS races during the 2007 season. Backup chassis 140 finished third at Phoenix in its only NNCS start of the 2007 campaign.

QUOTES:
Hamlin on Running in His First All-Star Challenge: “This is going to be fun. It’s my first time running in the All-Star Challenge and I’m looking forward to racing the top drivers in the series in a shootout style race where we race all out for the $1 million prize. I watched this race and I know how gets out there under the lights with nothing to race for but the win, so it should be a good show for both the fans and the drivers. Our goal for the remainder of the season will be to make sure we are running the #11 FedEx Chevrolet in this race next year without having to qualify in the Open.”

Hamlin on His Sophomore Season: “We’re definitely avoiding the sophomore slump so far and it’s been a solid start to the 2007 season largely due to our success with the Joe Gibbs Racing Car of Tomorrow. If luck were on our side we’d have a couple of wins already this season, so we know we’re close to getting to Victory Lane in ‘07. The #11 team is working really hard and if we can be consistent with both the old car and the COT we’re going to be tough to beat the remainder of the season and into the Chase.”
