MARTIN LOOKS TO TURN UP THE HEAT IN ATLANTA
After taking the race off at Martinsville, Mark Martin returns to the No. 01 U.S. Army Chevrolet at one of his favorite tracks on the circuit, Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he has finished in the top 10 in five of the last seven races.

BURNING UP THE TRACK AT ATLANTA
This will be Martin's 44th-career Cup start at Atlanta, where the veteran has posted 22 top-10s, 13 top fives and two wins. Martin ran his first career Cup race at Atlanta 25 years ago on March 21,1982, finishing 19th. He returned there that fall and drove to a top 10. He has posted top-five finishes at AMS in four of the last seven events, including a second-place finish last season. He has finished in the top 10 at the track in four of the last five races and five of the last seven, including a 10th-place finish there in the spring. In addition, the veteran has run a series-high 1,553 laps (95.6 percent) inside the top 15 at AMS.

IN THE FALL
Both of Martin's wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway have come at the fall race at the 1.54-mile track, as have seven of his 22 top-five finishes.

PART TIME SCHEDULE, FULL-TIME RESULTS
This will be Martin's 22nd start in 2007. Despite having taken 11 races off this season, Martin is still 26th in the Nextel Cup driver standings. Martin has a better average finish (12.4) than nine of the 12 drivers in the "Chase for the Nextel Cup."

DOUBLE DUTY IN ATLANTA
Martin will run his sixth and final Craftsman Truck race of the season at Atlanta this weekend in the No. 21 Wood Brothers' truck. This season, he has three top-five finishes in five starts, with his best finish of third coming at Bristol in August. This will be Martin's third start in the truck in Atlanta, with his best finish of second coming in the spring truck event last season.

"Atlanta is a great racetrack. It’s a big, fast racetrack where you can run all over the place. The pavement has aged well over the years and it has given up and made it a really fun place to race. From top-to-bottom, it’s one of the best places that we go, and it usually makes for a great show and a great race.

"I always look forward to going there. We had a pretty good run there in the spring and were able to get a top-10 finish out of it. We were a little bit off at Charlotte, so we'll have our work cut out for us this weekend, making sure that we find the right setup for the race. I know that Ryan Pemberton and the guys on this team will give me the best car possible and I'm looking forward to getting back out on the track and racing that No. 01 U.S. Army Chevy."
