AMD at the Glen - Scott Riggs Notes

Scott Riggs No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger
Watkins Glen International Raceway Fast Facts

Driver: Scott Riggs
Team Director: Rodney Childers
Car Director: Dave Bryant
Engineer: Kevin Kidd
Team Owner: Valvoline Evernham Racing
Designated team owner, Jim Rocco
Sponsors: Valvoline, Stanley Tools, Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper
Chassis No. 118- This is the same Charger that Riggs drove to a 27th-place finish in Sonoma. It has been tested twice at VIR this season.

SCOTT RIGGS QUOTES:
“I will be the first to admit that road course racing is not my specialty, but the crew has certainly prepared a good Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge for this Watkins Glen. We have made it a point to improve our performance on the road courses. All three cup teams have been to VIR (Virginia International Raceway) to test on two different occasions this year, each time with Boris Said as our instructor. This most recent time at VIR I feel like I improved the most. We are shooting for a solid top 15-finish this weekend. I just want to come home with my best road course finish yet. Also want to mention we are happy to have Hellmann’s on the cup car as an associate this weekend. They are a part of the Ultimate Chargers Busch program here at Evernham but are stepping up their involvement to include the Cup car for this race”

RODNEY CHILDERS QUOTE:
“We are focused on improving on our last road course finish (27th at Sonoma). Before this most recent test session at VIR we changed a lot of front end geometry stuff from Sonoma which improved our Charger. Scott was a second-and- a-half quicker during this test session. We also chose not to use the two-seater and instead spent more time with Scott actually behind the wheel working on getting our own chassis better.”

QUICK FACTS:

  • Last week Riggs participated in a two day test session at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), with all three Evernham cup drivers and Boris Said. This was the second time they have tested at VIR with Said this season.
  • The No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger will carry associate sponsorship from Hellmann’s Mayonnaise this weekend. Riggs will also drive for Hellmann’s in the upcoming Busch Series race at Dover as part of the Ultimate Chargers Busch program.
  • In his Nextel Cup career, Riggs has five road-course starts. In those races he has led four laps and his average finish is 29.4.
  • The No. 10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger has been running at the end of all 20 Cup races in which it has competed this season as well as both exhibition races (Shootout and All-Star).
  • Since missing the field for the Daytona 500, Valvoline Evernham Racing has climbed from 44th to 20th in owners points.

VALVOLINE CAR CARE TIP OF THE WEEK:
Temperatures seriously affect your oil and its lubricating effectiveness. Check your owner's manual for the recommended viscosity in various weather conditions. Using the incorrect weight—such as straight 30-weight in winter in cold country—can be harmful to the internal parts you're trying to protect.
