Robby Gordon’s Quotes on the Glen
Each year you’re a favorite going into the road-course races, what do you think makes you successful at these tracks?
“We have a base-line setup that we start with and go from there. Both cars that we bring to the Glen are proven to be great road-course cars. I won in 2003 in this weekend’s back-up car and hopefully the primary is due for a win as well.

“We had a couple of issues in Sonoma and barring any problems this weekend, we can definitely be contenders.”

Jim Beam Fast Facts:

  • Beam is Back – This weekend’s AMD at the Glen will mark the eighth appearance of Jim Beam as the primary sponsor of Gordon’s No. 7 Chevy. Dedicated to socially responsible drinking, Jim Beam launched its awareness program, drink smart®, in 1995 as an educational program that communicates the importance of responsible consumption by adults of legal purchase age that choose to drink. drink smart® means: If you’re of legal age and you choose to drink, do so responsibly; Do not drink if you’re under 21; Don’t drive drunk; If you can’t drink smart – don’t drink at all. Menards, Harrah’s and CarLoan.com will serve as associates.
  • Chassis – Chassis No. 108 will act as the primary this weekend. Chassis No. 108 also acted as the primary during Gordon’s top-five run at Sonoma before the No. 7 Chevy was sidelined by a mechanical failure. Chassis No. 117, in which Gordon swept both road-course races in 2003, will serve as back up.
  • Points Position – Following a disappointing 35th-place finish in Indianapolis, Gordon and the No. 7 Jim Beam Chevy still remain in the 27th position, a mere 74 points out of 25th and 232 points out of 20th.
  • Winning Ways – Gordon, regarded as one of NASCAR’s premier road-course drivers, will attempt to capture his fourth win overall and second career win at the 2.45-mile road course this weekend. Gordon cruised to victory lane at the Glen in 2003, completing his sweep of the Nextel Cup road-course races that year.
  • Meet the Driver – Gordon will sign autographs and visit with fans at the Robby Gordon Motorsports merchandise trailer on Sunday, August 13th at 9:45 a.m.
  • Hear It – Got a scanner? Tune it to 469.4500 or 463.6500 to hear Robby Gordon Motorsports team communications during the race.
  • Giving Back – Jim Beam and Robby Gordon will donate $20,000 to The State University of New York (SUNY) in support of the Beam Global Drink Smart program. This program is aimed to educate consumers on how to make responsible decisions about alcohol. This presentation will take place on pit road before qualifying on August 11, 2006.
